The weather seems to be taking a turn for the Autumn this week and with the nights drawing in, it’s time to focus on the cosy here on the North Norfolk Coast. There is still lots to do and see, so grab your coat and head to the coast.
Mussel Season
Perhaps the best news for October is the start of Mussel season, which are at their freshest from October - March. The Mussels are so fresh and so delicious in Norfolk they have their own festival. The Brancaster Mussel festival is celebrating this wonderful food on the weekend of the 20th October at The White Horse. With Mussels 5 ways, live music and delicious cocktails all in their heated marquee overlooking Brancaster Bay. A steaming bowl of mussels after a long walk sounds utterly perfect.
Pick your own Pumpkin
Nothing says Autumn is here like a pumpkin. Our very own Pumpkin House opens on Saturday 14th October with Pick your own pumpkin, a maize maze, live music and delicious hot chocolates. A lovely activity for all the family. On Sunday 29th October the creators of the Pumpkin house will be hosting their first ever Fancy Dress Parade. Join us at The Pumpkin House at 11.30am for a parade around the site before judging takes place.
Autumn colours
We are so lucky to have a number of wonderful locations to see the changing colours of the Autumn leaves, from Felbrigg to Sandringham, from Blickling to Holkham. Why not grab the wellies and go from a stomp through the crunchy leaves, the squelching mud and the morning dew. There is nothing more life affirming than fresh cold area during the season of change.
