It’s time, it's time to lean into Christmas as it comes barreling out of the darkness towards us. John Lewis are releasing their advert tomorrow so it must be ok to start talking about it. At this time of year Norfolk is lit up with light switch ones, a great way to start the festivities and the perfect opportunity to have your first mulled wine.
Thousands of people will be flocking to Holt next Friday for the big switch on. With the promise of live entertainment from The Austin Beats and Cromer Pier Christmas Show MC, Olly Day, street food and bars, craft market traders, Norwich City Pipers and a firework spectacular, it is arguably the biggest switch on, on the coast. There will also be a Panto Horse race fought by local business, Bakers & Larners won in 2022 so will be fighting hard to retain their title and rumour has it the Byford team are already talking tactics!
Burnham Market Switch on
Just a day later on Saturday 18th November the chocolate box village of Burnham Market will be switching on their lights. This year it is styled as a Victorian Christmas. Entertainment includes Burnham Church Choir and School Choir along with a children's funfair is expected. There is also a two day Christmas market, beautifully curated by Hanah Bingley at The Hoste, the perfect opportunity to start your Christmas shopping nice and early, and buy a Christmas tree if you are feeling all the festive feels
Not quite a light switch on but magical all the same, on Saturday 25th November, Father Christmas will arrive from The North Pole by boat and to announce his arrival a spectacular Fireworks Display will erupt over The Marshes, how amazing is that! The festivities do start on Friday 24th with carol singing and mulled wine on the Buttlands.
Man, I love Christmas in Norfolk!
