Spotlight: Summer at Holkham Hall

Every time I go to Holkham I am in awe of the stunning house nestled in such rich and diverse grounds right in the heart of North Norfolk. At this time of year there are tons of things happening and it is SO easy to spend the day there with the whole family.

Perhaps start the day with hiring bikes to take you to all the corners of the working estate, along the gravel tracks, through the trees, down (and up) the hills, spotting the deer and basking in the beauty of being in the grounds of such an iconic estate.

Once you have worked up an appetite, head to Feast in the Park - their summer long food pop up where you can sample all kinds of delicious food options, from duck wraps to loaded fries, Indian curries and burgers. There is also live music over the weekends and of course Adnams are there to wash it all down. The beauty of Holkham is it is so large it doesn’t take long to get away from the crowds on your picnic blanket.

Your afternoon can still be full of adventure if you fancy a trip in a Kayak on the lake or a swing on the high ropes course. If you are after something slightly more serene and I don’t blame you, the picturesque Walled Garden is stunning at this time of year and when the house is open it is well worth a visit to immerse yourself in the rich history of the houset.

Holkham has a jam-packed summer of events as well as everything else going on including outdoor theatre and cricket games in front of the house, check out their website for full details: https://www.holkham.co.uk/
