Nowadays traditional village shows are few and far between (sadly), not one where ‘A mutant or rude vegetable’ is a whole category for judging anyway.
The Burnhams Flower Show & Carnival on Saturday has been going for over 100 years in Burnham Market and is exactly what you picture when you picture a village fete in a picturesque village.
Taking place on the playing field in Burnham Market are all kinds of garden related competitions from ‘The Heaviest Onion’ to ‘A vase of your favourite blooms’ as well as a scarecrow competition and ‘the tallest sunflower’ competition within 6 miles of Burnham Market. To top it off, there is also a Carnival parade leaving The Hoste at 13:40, led by the Phoenix Pipes & Drums Band, by the sounds of it, it is set to be a good old fashioned family friendly day out.
Team all of this with a ice cold glass of wine from one of the locals and you’ve got an afternoon fresh out of Calender Girls!
